BOWLING

SIRS Branch 125 has many activities that you can get involved in depending upon your interests.

GOLF

We have a very active golf program with scheduled tournaments held every Wednesday.  We play a variety of courses in the Bay Area and award prizes to the winning teams and to individuals shooting closest to the hole.  We are an NCGA Associate Club and qualify for the low cost membership fee for seniors.

Twice a year we hold a 3 day tournament in the Sierra foothills which includes 3 rounds of golf and accommodations for two nights.  Also, the SIR Areas 5 & 20 hold monthly tournaments on a Monday where members of several branches play together.

Check our current Golf Schedule.

BOWLING

For those interested in bowling SIRs sponsors a league at Cambrian Bowl in San Jose on Monday mornings.  Teams from several branches in the Bay Area compete in a handicap league.

COMPUTER CLUB

Our Computer Club's purpose is to share information and experiences.  We meet once a month for a couple of hours.  Our goal is to have something for all levels of interest and experience. Those who are contemplating their first purchase of a computer can get advice (opinions?) on the merits of PC’s vs Macs, the optimum configuration for their needs, and the names of merchants who have good prices and service. For those who are current users (regardless of their level of sophistication) this is a forum for discussing the merits of competing software, hardware, operating systems, Internet providers, etc.  And for those of us who have lost touch with the experts at work or who’s computer literate offspring have moved away, the old time pros get a sense of fulfillment by offering their services. The pros can help with trouble shooting, giving an occasional lecture on some specific software, browsing the Internet, sending e-mail, virus/firewall/spyware protection, etc.

CARD CLUB

This is an ad hoc activity where some of the members get together to play poker, cribbage, or other games.  There is often a card game after our luncheon and the Poker Club meets on the 4th Thursday of each month.

SPECIAL EVENTS

We have many other scheduled events during the year including:

  • Tours
  • Professional Sports (Giant's, A's, etc.)
  • Summer Barbeque preceded by a 9 hole golf tournament
  • Christmas Luncheon for members and spouses
